The Art of Knitting

Flat knitting is the architecture of modern textiles.
By shaping each piece directly on the machine, we reduce waste and expand creative freedom through precision and structure.

At GLOBAL SOURCE, we produce fully fashioned knits up to gauge 12 — merging advanced technology and technical mastery to craft refined textures and sculptural silhouettes that define contemporary knitwear.

jersey

Jersey is a versatile knit with a smooth, elastic surface, suitable for both lightweight and structured designs. Its natural curl can be stabilized or embraced as a design element, offering creative flexibility. With fluid drape and soft touch, it unites comfort, elegance, and refined aesthetic in every garment.

Rib

Rib is formed by alternating knit and purl stitches, creating elasticity and a textured surface. Its stability keeps edges clean, adapting perfectly to movement. From delicate ribs to bold structures, it shapes silhouettes and adds tactile depth. Rib knits unite comfort, structure, and timeless sophistication.

Jacquard

Jacquard integrates multicolored or textured motifs directly into the fabric, creating durable and expressive surfaces. Using advanced programming, it achieves fine details or bold graphics with clean interiors. Ideal for logos and geometric compositions, jacquard transforms knitwear into visual storytelling.

Intarsia

Intarsia builds bold color areas with separate yarns for each section, producing clean, lightweight fabrics with no floats. It allows sharp-edged graphics, color-blocking, and large-scale motifs with high precision. Soft yet striking, intarsia brings clarity and modern artistry to knitwear design.

Links&Links

Links & Links alternates face and reverse stitches in sequence, creating a reversible fabric with natural texture and softness. Stable yet fluid, it minimizes curling and enhances drape. This dual-surface knit invites contrast, tone, and texture — expressing technical mastery with understated elegance.

Tuck Stitch

Tuck stitch holds loops for multiple cycles before knitting them, forming layered textures with depth and elasticity. Its open structure adds breathability and lightness while keeping stability. From subtle grids to sculptural effects, tuck stitches create dynamic surfaces rich in movement and precision.

Miss Stitch

Also called float stitch, this technique skips selected needles, forming yarn floats that shape texture and rhythm. It produces lighter, breathable fabrics with smooth or raised effects. Often paired with jacquard or tuck structures, miss stitch introduces refined contrasts and graphic dimension.

Openwork

Openwork creates mesh-like patterns through dropped or transferred stitches, balancing structure and transparency. The result is light, breathable fabrics with architectural rhythm. Whether subtle or bold, openwork merges delicacy and innovation — revealing knitwear as both textile and sculpture.
